Today my insurance agent called. Every other year or so I meet with her to make sure my policy is all squared away and covering the things I need covered.
Despite living on one of the highest points in town I asked about flood insurance. I don't really think the Minnesota River or Nine Mile Creek is going to rise 300 feet above flood stage and reach my street but I wondered about back-up sewers or some other form of water damage that isn't covered under a typical home policy. There is some coverage for such damage and it wasn't expensive so I added it.
Each time I talk to the agent or anyone in her office they ask me about bringing my auto policy over to their company. And each time I say no.
The conversation goes like this:
"Who is your current auto policy with?"
"USAA."
"Oh yeah. I understand. Well, thank you for having your homeowner policy with us though!"
I'm not telling this story because of how satisfied I am with USAA but to note how even a competitor recognizes USAA as a good company.
